Sergei B. Stankevich

A graduate of the Department of History at Lenin Moscow Pedagogical University, Candidate of Historical Sciences. Sergei Stankevich worked at the Institute of World History of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, specializing on the history of political systems, parties and parliaments of foreign countries (thesis topic: “The Struggle Around Social and Economic Issues in the US Senate (1971–1974)”). He served as People’s Deputy of the USSR in 1989–1991, first deputy chair of the Moscow Soviet in 1990–1992, presidential advisor on political affairs in 1991–1993. Sergei Stankevich was part of the team that drafted the Constitution of Russia, served as a State Duma deputy in 1993–1995, and is currently employed as an expert at Anatoliy Sobchak Foundation.
